Volume presents: Lightning song is set to strike at the heart of Naala Badu for a night of surf rock, indie rock, folk rock and dub. Celebrating some of the most electric First Nations musicians working today, Lightning song coincides with NAIDOC Week and the Art Gallery’s landmark exhibition YolÅu power: the art of Yirrkala. Featuring live performances by renowned and emerging superstars, the night is headlined by YolÅu surf rockers King Stingray. Luritja musician Keanu Nelsonwill bring a passionate blend of homespun dub music by way of Papunya in the Northern Territory, and Wergaia/Wemba Wemba indie-songwriter Alice Skye will bring her unique form of confessional bedroom rock to the Art Gallery. Also, the premiere of a new music composition by Bundjalung/Lama Lama singer-songwriter Kev Carmody will be played at various locations in Naala Badu throughout the night. The song ‘CarnavonGirraweenBunyas’ will take listeners on an immersive 30-minute journey through Country, led by one of our greatest living songwriters.
