ALREADY READY, Bring It On.

Politicians with no technical understanding and advisors with no hands-on experience are scripting AI narratives based on fear, nationalism, and corporate lobbying—not facts.

The result? 

Open code and open source models of AI are smeared, real innovation is buried, and regulation serves monopolies instead of the public. 

AI Hype becomes policy. 

AI Spin becomes consensus. 

And the silence of those who know better becomes complicity.

Exposing the spin cycle—

naming the lies, tracing the sources, and calling out the narrative capture that turns fiction into policy then into law.

Because the real threat isn’t AI taking your job, it’s uninformed decision-makers scripting your future based on briefing notes they don’t understand, for systems they’ll never have to fix.

Your children and grand children will be stuck with ill informed policy that becomes law, then is  embedded as that’s the way we’ve always done it. Corporates with closed data silo models of big tech LLM are at the forefront of setting these  government “policy” agendas right now. If governments let them. If ill informed politicians or ignorant “think tanks” listen to lobbyists or vested interests and defer to a narrow or proprietary AI hype. 

Unless we start interrogating the AI sources, asking better questions of what agendas may be behind different AI models, calling out corporate, industry and government spin, and demanding accountability, we’ll keep legislating our children’s future based on at best ignorance, or at worst, outright greed and lies. 

Australia must ensure any eventual innovation  “policy” that then becomes AI law, is actually well considered, thoroughly researched, based on industry, academic and non aligned multiple perspectives. This is the bare minimum national standard for a “technology” that is already as ubiquitous as electricity and the internet. Will Australia rise to the AI innovative challenge during ALP Albanese’s second term, or fall into an innovative digital economy waste land and wither as an irrelevant laggard? 

These indeed are exciting times we live in. 

I remain optimistic that there is immense talent recently elected to lead. Fresh eyes, fresh energy, sensible and informed foundational research that converts into policy, then law, then change, then better futures for all, especially those just being born.
